(connecting the cosmos to earthly experience)
Order Asteroids' Products
Disputes over the election prevail. Divisiveness only becomes more intense. As Bush prevails, it is only the beginning of his troubles, especially within his own party. A coup within a coup. So, where is responsible leadership. While cerebral elite Dems incredulously scratch their heads, and academics ridicule this craft, the GOP pragmatists use it. The timing of Bush's acceptance speech seemed too astrologically perfect to be unintentional. Is Karl Rove a closet stargazer? The GOP convention began on a Mercury retrograde but concluded when it went direct, and that's for openers. Mercury will be slowing in direct motion until the 30th when it begins
a retrograde for three weeks in judgmental savvy Sagittarius. Hacked
voting machines and processes will sustain the divisiveness. Another
signal of data mixups? Voting machine coverups going awry? A deadlocked
election eventually supporting the incumbent is the call. Become familiar
with the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and Sedition laws that
punish those speaking out against the government.

Astrology is an escort through time, identifying times of stress and times of opportunity. At present we define our birth as July 4, 1776. But that represents separating from England, irrelevant now. What really makes us unique is the Constitution with the Bill of Rights adopted 4 March 1789, more worthy of commemoration than it receives. If you agree with it, support candidates preserving the freedoms it guarantees. Many forces wish to replace the Constitution with limiting provisions. Vote! Voting alone helps preserve the Constitution. The planets representing freedom and ideals, Jupiter and Neptune, are at 19 Cancer and 22 Libra in the natal Constitution chart. Transiting Saturn in late Cancer indicates pressure to restrict freedoms, similar to Saturn conjunctions in 1916-17 (anti German laws, e.g. Pennsylvania Deutsch become Dutch, alcohol prohibition), 1945-47 (labor union restrictions, Sen. McCarthy's restrictive powers, House Un-American Activities Commission), and 1974-75 (Watergate, domestic CIA actions). We have choices now as then. Become active at the polls. I am. If your community has disenfranchised voters, report it. Ditto for hacked voting machines with no paper trail. Fear with real or alleged terror is another political scheme.

Happy equinox on the 22nd at 12:30 pm. Can Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur be far behind? They're on the 16th and 25th, with Sukkoth on the 30th. Then there's Native American Day on the 24th, and Labor Day the 6th. Moving away from human made ceremonies, there's a harvest full Moon September 27-28th when the full Moonlight shines for a longer time than other full Moons. Hayrides anyone? Except for Mercury retrograde the 1st and 2nd, there are no personal
planets retrograde in September. Enjoy. John Kerry's born (11 Dec 43, 8:03 AM, Denver) at a Sagittarius Sun, and a full Moon in Gemini conjunct John Edwards' Sun (10 Jun 53, 7.02 AM, Seneca SC). How lovely. More next month.

Mercury's appears to move retrograde August 9th to September 2nd, in early creative and sovereign Leo and then late detailed Virgo. Can you prove that you're NOT an enemy combatant? The issue before our Supreme Court is whether this endless war on terrorism can be used to imprison people INDEFINITELY, without access to attorneys, families and friends? Every modern nation places limits on detention on suspicion. Even Israel, definitely at war, has due process for (suspected) enemy combatants for only 18 days. Our government can detain suspects two years and counting. Our judicial administrators seem to be returning to pre-Magna Carta time when rulers (sovereigns then) held folks they didn't like indefinitely without due process. As stated in last month's column, the divisive issue is not land or slavery as in 1861-65. The serious divisions are based on perception (the third house astrologically), trust of leadership (ninth house). The transiting planets explaining the present crisis in US civil liberties is explained by 1) transforming Pluto going over idealistic Neptune in the USA 9th house, 2) idealistic Neptune in stress to our trusting natal Jupiter and Venus in the public 7th sector, and 3) controlling Saturn joining our natal Mercury and Jupiter, ruling planets of the 3rd and 9th houses! Identical Saturn transits applied in 1974-75 (Nixon's second term, Watergate), and in 1945-47 during the McCarthy hearings and the media purge of socially sensitive talent, and 1916-17 and World War I's ubiquitous prejudice "against the Hun." My call is another deadlocked election with incumbent victory eventually using less than legal measures, 1)disenfranchised voters, 2)a real or staged terror attack in late September or early October, 3)hacked voting machines with no paper trail, and 4)Nader. |

| The nation is more divided than ever, and another deadlocked election
is my call with the incumbent victorious after another (almost) bloodless
coup. The issues are more ubiquitous than the clearly defined issues of
the 1861-65 War. The divisions now are based upon perceptions and awareness
of facts. Compare SAT Verbal scores and high school graduate percentages
for States voting for the candidates in 2000 (source: World Almanac 2004).
Significant differences prevail with higher percentages and scores for
the States voting for Gore. This divide has widened since 2000! Wasn't
massive Iraqi oil exports supposed to pay for the war? Mammoth flags outside
import merchants only mocks the disconnect between producers and consumers!
With no increased production jobs, dollars are devalued. Contested results will prevail in MD, OH, PA and WI and wherever new voting machines leave no paper trail. In 2000, Bush's victory was partly explained by asteroids Busch and Washington conjunct. They're together again in November! Doctored voting machines, disenfranchised voters, Nader, plus fear through a real or staged attack in September will favor incumbents. This election parallels Nixon's 2nd term and the deadlocked election of 1824! In 1824 and 2004, heavy outer planets are at the Jupiter-Saturn (liberal-conservative) midpoint. The progressed USA Sun, Election Day 2004 is opposite the same position when John Q Adams was selected by Congress in 1825--to the day!! Son (JQ Adams, #6) follows father (John Adams, #2) again!? The next Iraq: Venezuela! The real message of Mel Gibson's Passion film, the Patriot Act, limited marriage laws, and terrorism used to arbitrarily and indefinitely imprison suspects is the new CD: the Criminalization of Dissent. |

The rarest of retrogrades, Venus, continues its apparent backward
motion through June 29th. Venus represents values, beauty, and self-worth.
Go with its flow by returning to such things experienced but now absent.
Rekindle prior friendships, and business deals too, that ended prematurely.
In Gemini, the Venus retro suggests returning to prior data, witnesses,
contracts, vehicles, communications tools, plus good friends you liked
to joke around with and really had great conversations with. If such
have been lost, now's as good a time as any to resume the search. The newly discovered object in our solar system is really far out. Known as Sedna, it is the main player in the Oort Cloud in the deepest regions of our star system, where comets are born and far beyond the Kuiper belt where Pluto moves amidst other much smaller objects. Sedna is the name given the ice goddess of the Inuit peoples of Nunavut Province, Canada. Planet Pluto averages 3 billion miles from the Sun, while Sedna is 8 billion miles away in a very elliptical orbit. Pluto's revolution around the Sun takes 247 years, while Sedna takes about 8,300 years to go around! Right now, Sedna is about 19 degrees in Taurus and slower than any known solar system object. |

The rarest of retrogrades, Venus, does just that mid May through June in mental Gemini. On the positive side, return to previous relationship scenes, or financial scenes, that were enjoyable but ended too abruptly. Humor is most important now, to treat most verbal exchanges with a modicum of levity. On the negative side, avoid new partnership agreements. And postpone intimacies until July and after. Can June newlyweds postpone nuptials a month at least? We also have a lunar eclipse on the 4th, not visible here. We're facing the most divisive times. But we have choices. The 9-11 and Madrid bombings show clear astrological signatures. Venus of values was sextile disciplined Saturn both times, and Venus aspecting idealistic Neptune both times reflects the martyrdom of the criminal actions. The latter followed the former by exactly 911 days. When do those aspects return? September & October! Will Dubya and friends plan some frightening event to adhere the public to incumbents? Yes. The progressed Sun in the USA chart enters Pisces on election day. No precedent for that one, but when the progressed Sun was opposite in 1825, John Quincy Adams was selected president (#6) after a deadlocked election. JQ was the son of President John Adams (#2). If you want to prevent another fiasco, hone computer skills to detect manipulated voting machines without paper trails manufactured by incumbent supporters Diebold. Also, see that voters supporting opponents of the incumbents are not disenfranchised as happened in Florida in 2000. A Cosmic Portrait for Islam: The First Recitation of Muhammad, and the Present Crisis Insights into The World Trade Center Attack,

| Abram and Sarai were childless and likely to remain so. He was 85, she 76.. Then God, so the story goes, summoned Abram out of his tent one night. "Look now towards heaven, and count the stars." As Abram gazed up, the voice said "So shall thy seed be." The middle eastern sky at night was clear, with occasional smoke from campfires but few clouds. The sky Abram saw was filled with millions of visible stars. In Arabic their names would be Ibrahim and Sara. |
| Recognizing her infertility, Sarai suggested that Abram marry her Egyptian
slave Hagar known in Arabic as Hajar, a daughter of Pharaoh. "See
now," Sarai said, "God has restrained me from bearing children;
consort now with my maidservant; perhaps I shall found a family through
her." (Genesis 16:1) Hagar is property, Sarai knew, and anything
this slave does or makes is mine. So let Hagar have a child with Abram,
Sarai likely thought, and that's unlikely because Abram is an elderly
85. Longevity for humans reported in the Bible after the flood tended
to more closely resemble present longevity than before. Noah lived to
950 years, and no Biblical character since has approached that longevity. So
entrusting whatever seed the very elderly Abram may have with a servant
girl is a long shot at best, and there's nothing to lose, Sarai thought..
The child will be mine to raise, and bring joy to my life. Perhaps idealistic
transiting Neptune was in a stressful aspect to Sarai's Venus of values.
Those Venusian values included possessions such as slaves and their offspring.
And she assumed Abram would not develop any emotional bonding with Hagar
because she was a slave, and Sarai may further have assumed no emotional
bonding with Hagar through any children he might have with her. If that's
what Sarai expected, then her life was to become far more complex. What
did she expect would happen if Abram and Hagar produced a child? Was Abram
only stud material? And Abram and Hagar had a son. When Hagar conceived,
bitterness arose between Hagar and Sarai. No surprise. Sarai felt she
was lowered in the eyes of Hagar because Hagar was able to conceive with
Abram while she could not. Sarai said to Abram "I have been wronged
and you must answer for it! It was I who gave my slave-girl into your
arms, but since she is with child she has despised me. May the Lord see
that justice is done between you and me." (Genesis 16:5) Perhaps
Sarai was jealous at the private time Abram had with Hagar, perhaps he
shared secrets and private feelings with Hagar that Abram had not shared
with Sarai. Just like so many men caught in that situation, they run away
from it. And Abram did the same. "Your slave girl is in your hands,"
Abram said, "deal with her as you will." So Sarai ill treated
Hagar and Hagar ran away into the desert wilderness.Hagar cried out to
God in her distress. God sent an angel to her and said "Return to
your mistress. I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, and they
will not be counted for there will be so many. Behold thou art with child,
a son, and shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord hath heard thy
affliction." Ishmael, in Arabic Isma'il, means "God shall hear."
And Hagar returned to Abram and Sarai, and Ishmael was born. "He
shall be a man like a wild ass, his hand against every man and every man's
hand against him; and he shall live to the east of all his kinsmen."
(Genesis 16:11)When Ishmael was thirteen years, Abram was in his 99th
year, and Sarai was 90,. God again spoke to Abram and promised that Sarai
would bear him a son whose name shall be called Isaac. The Lord appeared
to Abram and said, "I am God Almighty. Live always in my presence
and be perfect, so that I may set my covenant between myself and you and
multiply your descendants." Abram threw himself down on his face,
and God spoke with him and said, "I make this covenant and I make
it with you: you shall be the father of a host of nations. Your name shall
no longer be Abram. Your name shall be Abraham. I will make nations out
of you." But your covenant with me will be marked by circumcision
of all males on the eighth day and all males in your household, yourself,
and all males bought by you." (Genesis 17:12).God continued "as
for Sarai, you shall call her Sarah (meaning Princess [is that the root
of the Jewish Princess phrase?]). I will bless her and give you a son
by her. She will be the mother of many nations." Abraham laughed:
"Can a son be born to a hundred year old man? Can Sarah bear a child
at 90?. If only Ishmael might live under thy special care." God replied
"Sarah shall bear you a son and you shall call him Isaac. With him
I will fulfill my covenant." And then Abraham circumcised himself
and Ishmael and all males in the household. Imagine that scene, and without
anesthetics too.Don't Laugh at the Lord. When Sarai started laughing when
being told that she would bear a son at 90, the Lord appeared to her and
asked "Is anything impossible for the Lord? About this time next
year, I shall come back to you Sarah and you will have a son." (Genesis
18:14)Changing Abram's name to Abraham at the birth of Isaac and not at
the birth of Ishmael represents the Old Testament's way of saying God's
covenant with Abraham was established through nations founded by Isaac
and not those nations founded by Ishmael. In the Qur'an, no such distinction
is made, and the covenant of Allah is with Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac.
And that's where the main division lies.Fearing that his elder son might
lose favor in the sight of God, Abraham prayed: "O that Ishmael might
live before Thee!" And God said, "As for Ishmael, I have heard
thee. Behold I have blessed him and I will make him a great nation. But
my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sara will bear unto thee."Sarah
gave birth to Isaac, and when he was weaned she told Abraham that Hagar
and Ishmael must no longer remain in their household. And Abraham was
deeply grieved at this on account of his love for Ishmael. God spoke to
Abraham and said not to grieve, and that Ishmael shall be blessed. Not
one but two great nations were to look back to Abraham as their father
-- two great nations, two guided powers to work the Will of Heaven, Israel
and Christendom on the one hand through Isaac, Islam on the other through
Ishmael. Abraham was a fountainhead of two spiritual streams, which were
not to flow together. Two religions, two circles and two centers. The
one through Isaac was at hand for him. The other was to this other center
that Hagar and Ishmael were guided, in a barren Arabian valley, some forty
camel days south of Canaan. The Becca valley was surrounded by hills on
all sides except for three passes to the north, south and west to the
Red Sea. History does not tell us how Hagar and Ishmael reached Becca,
but soon after arriving they were overcome by thirst and Hagar feared
for the death of Ishmael, who cried out to God from where he lay in the
sand.. Hagar made seven passes to nearby rocks seeing if help was available,
and none was seen.As she rested on a nearby rock, an Angel spoke to her
according to Genesis (21:17): What aileth thee, Hagar? Fear not, for God
hath heard the voice of the lad. Arise and lift up Ishmael and hold him
in thy hand, for I will make him a great nation. And God opened her eyes
and she perceived a well of water. She went and filled the skin container
with water and gave the youth to drink.According to the Midrash as quoted
in the Tanach, the angels pleaded with God not to perform a miracle for
Ishmael because his offspring were destined to persecute and murder Jews,
but God responded that he would judge Ishmael only according to his present
deeds and not according to what happens in the future. (Tanach, edited
by Rabbi Scherman, Genesis 21:17fn).Zamzam - the Spring of Ishmael. The
water was a spring which God caused to well up from the sand at the touch
of Ishmael's heel. Thereafter the valley became a caravan stop for the
purity and abundance of the water. The well was named Zamzam.Genesis became
the book of Isaac and his descendants, not of Abraham's other line through
Ishmael. Genesis describes of Ishmael that God was with him and he grew
and dwelt in the desert and became an accomplished archer.. He lived in
the desert of Paran, and Hagar took a wife for him from Egypt. Hagar probably
thought, I'll get Ishmael a good Egyptian wife, literally not like the
Jewish Princess Sarah. By the way, after Sarah's death, Abraham took a
third wife, Keturah who gave birth to six children! Abraham died at 175.After
this, the Old Testament hardly mentions Ishmael again except that Isaac
and Ishmael together buried their father Abraham in Hebron. Some years
later, Esau, son of Isaac, marries a daughter of Ishmael, Mahalath. So,
the first intermarriage of an Israeli-to-be and a Muslim-to-be. The Bible
makes no note of this. Ishmael lived 137 years. The Sacred Ka'bah. When Hagar and Ishmael reached their Arabian destination, Abraham had another 75 years to live, and he visited his son in the holy place. The Qur'an tells us that God showed him the exact site, near to the well, Zamzam, upon which he and Ishmael would build a sanctuary. Its name, Ka'bah, cube, is in reference of its cubic shape. The most holy object is a celestial stone, perhaps a meteorite, which it is said was brought by an angel to Abraham.Christianity began at the Nativity. The birth of Jesus is detailed in the New Testament. And several horoscopes have described the possible birth and character of the Jesus and the faith. Not so Islam. Islam begins with the Qur'an and the Hadith. Both messages come from Muhammad's experiences with a divine force beginning in 610. Think of the Qur'an as the word of Allah spoken directly to Muhammad or through the angel Gabriel to Muhammad. The Hadith are sayings of The Prophet as regards applications of the Qur'an. The Recitation of the Qu'ran It was common practice in 7th century western Arabia for families to retreat to caves overlooking Mecca, for meditation and a spiritual experience. Such was the scene for Muhammad ibn Abdullah as he, his wife and family, retreated to such a cave on Mount Hira in the Meccan Valley. Muhammad is described as spending the month of Ramadan in prayer and distributing food and alms to the poor who visited him during this sacred period. Muhammad was very proud of Mecca, the most thriving financial center in the Hijaz. The Meccans were especially proud of the Ka'bah, a shrine many believed then and now as the Temple of al-Llah, the High God of the Arabs, dating back to the time of Abraham and Ishmael. Each year, pilgrims from all parts of Arabia would journey to the shrine to make the hajj pilgrimage, a practice that predates Islam as a structured religion. The tribe of Muhammad, the Quraysh, was then responsible for the commercial success of Mecca as they had the honor to guard the huge granite shrine, ensuring the preservation of its integrity. Are Horoscopes Limiting, even Insulting? Even though horoscopes are unique documents assuming the birth data is accurate, many persons can look upon horoscopes as limitations placed upon the character and spirit of an individual. This is especially true of revered leaders. And this is far more true of Islam than Christianity. How can we limit a being so important as Jesus, Moses, or Muhammad within the borders of a portrait of sky called a horoscope? Portraits of Muhammad are forbidden by Islamic law. There have never been any movies about Muhammad released with an actor playing his part. Several decades ago a movie was made about Muhammad, with Anthony Quinn playing the part. The film was never released. There are no "holy pictures" of Muhammad as there are of Jesus. Islam forbids all realistic portrayals of people and animals with the exception of children's toys and art. There is no cult of the personality of Muhammad as there is with Jesus. Any horoscope of Muhammad, or the first Recitation known as the beginning of the Qur'an, may be seen as an insult, a limitation, to the principles of the person and the faith. However, intention is the key to sin and punishment, and it is the intent of the author to give greater recognition to Islam by showing the power of experiences reflected by the symbols of the divine - planets, signs, houses, and aspects in a symbolic portrait of natural sky.Inevitable Controversy. With conflicting data regarding calendars for seventh century Mecca, criticism favoring one date over another is bound to flare, and those claiming a precise date is unknowable have a strong case also. Many will reject any date at all however accurate inasmuch as any horoscope is a limitation. For the same reason, many people avoid using the word God as being contradictory to the ubiquitous quality of God. If we use the word God, then there is a not-God which is impossible because God is everything. Thus the word God is a limitation. The same perspective prevails for many about Jesus, Moses, Muhammad or any deity identified with an infinite divine force. For similar reasons, there is bound to be controversy surrounding the proposed horoscope for the First Recitation.. That is why this writing is entitled A Horoscope, not The Horoscope.Muslims have a word jinn which in a way is equivalent to our word soul. Technically jinn means hidden, and while it is applied to hidden things like bacteria and things occulted by something else, in Islam it signifies a type of invisible being made by Allah that exists in another realm or dimension. Some might say horoscopes can reveal the jinn of the individual or an event like the Recitation, something hidden and subtle but extremely powerful. Horoscopes are comprised of symbols. The integration of all these symbols in a holistic image is a very personal experience, almost a sacred experience for the serious student of astrology. An Astrological Contribution As astrologers we study correlations between cosmic events and human experience, and we impute to certain times and places of beginning -- whether those be persons, nations, documents, or spiritual experiences, a certain character and energy flowing from that beginning. The energy of any moment carries harmonic vibrations henceforth for all time, long after the moment and the forms have passed or dissolved.. For example, the revivals of the music of deceased composers can correlate with their natal charts no less than when they lived. The horoscopes of Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Billie Holliday, John F Kennedy and all historical figures are examples of energies persisting beyond the death of a physical body.Charts for Islam. And perhaps if we had specifics about the life of the Prophet Muhammad, we could infer the nature of his experience and his perspective toward his time and place, his role in human history and thought, and the many events bearing his name. This is not meant to replace or substitute for any direct awareness or knowledge of the Prophet through meditation and prayer.Astrologers have a very special language of meaning imputed to the cosmos, and this allows us access to special insights. We are implicitly teachers or channelers, sharing our insights with others. This is true for any astrologer discovering anything, whether it be in mundane astrology studying world events or in sharing our perspectives with clients seeking direction from individual horoscopes. Those "From the Book" Just as Islam respects Christianity and Judaism as messages "from the book," so, as astrologers, we are also from the book that refers to the heavenly hosts as planets providing guidance for those of us on earth. We are also "of the book."Muslims consider the Qur'an to be the literal word of God, transmitted to Muhammad either directly or through the angel Gabriel. The Qur'an was revealed between 610 and 632. It has 114 chapters called surahs, and over 6000 verses called ayahs. It is not in chronological order, and makes many references to historical events. The Terrorism. How would The Prophet Muhammad react to the terrorism now connected with his name? Over a billion followers of Islam know that the teachings of Islam forbid doing harm to innocent people. Just as many may sight references to violence in the Qur'an, so there are references to encouraging terrorism in the Old Testament. I refer the reader to Deuteronomy 7:1-2, 20:10-17, and Numbers 31:17-18. Terrorism has been implicit in the beginnings of many nations, the United States and Israel included.Every event is preparation for the next. The recent scandals in the Western churches -- such as child molesting priests, ministers and rabbis, provide grounds for questioning the church itself, and the Bible on which it stands. There are many passages in the Old Testament displaying cruel treatment by men toward women (Deuteronomy 22:28-29, Genesis 19:8, and Judges 19), as well as in the Qur'an (4:34). Before credibility for the wisdom of the entire Bible or Qur'an is abandoned, why not purge passages that can serve as role models for violence and discrimination? Citing historical perspective as an excuse for the retention of these passages is no longer sufficient. What are the connections, if any, between the message of the Prophet and today's self appointed crusaders claiming to act in his name? The victims of September 11 and their families, and all the victims of the Israeli-Palestinian violence, and the Zionist-Palestinian violence of the early 20th century, were not enemies of Muhammad as were the many pagan tribes in Arabia in the 7th century openly suppressing The Qur'an. Would Muhammad condemn or bless the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001? Would the response of the Qur'an be more subtle and complex? And how might Muhammad address the suicide / homicide bombings all over the world in his name? The Recitation In the Arabian month of Ramadan in the year 610, a responsible and successful Arab camel driver born into a noble family, later turned merchant, husband of a devoted wife Khadijah, and then father to six children, had the first of many experiences with a divine force. Those few authors to assign a specific day in the month of Ramadan differ.. Karen Armstrong cites the 17th day, while Maxime Rodinson and several others say it was the 27th, and others just say "late in the month of Ramadan." But none of the authors reviewed cited a date for the First Recitation in the Common Era calendar. This first experience took place in a cave northwest of Mecca, on Mount Hira, also called Jabal un Nur, or Mountain of Light. These experiences commonly called the Recitation, would ultimately change the history of the world. The message of the Prophet spread quickly both during his lifetime and beyond, so much so that within a hundred years of his death, the message of Islam influenced three continents bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the west and the Pacific Ocean on the east. And this well before any mass communication. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 have raised curiosity about Islam to the American continents as well.Western invasions of predominantly Islamic lands have been a source of disturbance in the middle east. The first major invasion was with the Crusades at the turn of the 12th century. Secondly were the invasion of western nations in the 19th and 20th centuries, principally Great Britain, France, Portugal, and the Netherlands, to assume political authority over lands with dominant Islamic populations from northwest Africa to Indonesia. The State of Israel can be seen as another primarily European invasion of middle east lands predominantly occupied by Muslims. Whether the terrorists' motive was revenge for the previous murderous invasion of Europeans into the middle east during the Crusades and more recently, or the forced expulsion of Palestinian residents from their homes and farms by desperate Jewish victims of the Nazi holocaust during the establishment of Israel, would not be excuses for murdering innocents according to the tenets of Islam. At the time of the Balfour Declaration supporting a Zionist claim to Palestine as a homeland in 1917, Jewish residents comprised only five percent of the Palestine population. The first major riots between Muslim Arabs and Jews, in many centuries of peace and cooperation between both groups during horrendous periods, took place in the 1920s. How would Americans of European, African, Asian or Latin ancestry feel if Native American residents of these lands from the 15th century and before claimed our lands, farms and homes now as their own and began forcibly removing and replacing them?Religiously minded Muslims, according to famous Muslim writer Yahiya Emerick, do not support dictatorial leaders like Saddam Hussein, Hafiz Al Assad, or Yasir Arafat. According to this modern Islamic scholar, these leaders are not exemplary Muslims. All have worked to suppress the free practice of religion in their nations.Calendar Software. Thanks to technology that allows us to time travel and produce portraits of sky for ancient times, combined with excellent scholarship in Islamic studies, we may have a glimpse into major experiences in the life of Muhammad, the Prophet. His widowed mother Aminah, according to legend, was instructed in a dream while pregnant with Muhammad, to give him that name which was a very unusual name among Arabs, a name that had never been used before according to several authors. His father was named Abdullah, thus the original name Muhammad ibn Abdullah.Muhammad's Youth. He was born about the year 570 into the Hashim clan, a subgroup of the Quraish tribe of Mecca. Well documented histories of seventh century Arabia provide more information about Muhammad than is available for the lives of other initiators of religious movements.Biographers. Four major historians wrote biographies of The Prophet within three centuries of his death: Muhammad ibn Ishaq who died in the 8th century, Muhammad ibn Sa'd and Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi who died in the 9th century, and Abu Jafar at-Tabari who crossed over in the early 10th century. No other religious leader of ancient time had biographies written so close to their life that have survived to this day. These writers were attempting serious reconstructions of the times. They document earlier writings, they trace oral traditions to their original sources. While referring to Muhammad as a man of God, they are not writing a hagiography.. Tabari, for example, makes reference to the satanic verses showing Muhammad "making a mistake." And the Ibn Sa'd and Ibn Ishaq biographies include unflattering descriptions of Muhammad's family life, especially with his wife Aisha. None of these four Arab writers indulge in a whitewash. Several writers describe contradictory accounts of the same event without taking sides to one or another version.A Prophet of Their Own. Some Arabs of the 7th century felt that al-Llah was the same god worshipped by Jews and Christians. However, the Jews and Christians, the peoples of the scripture, "of the book" as Arabs called them, had their leaders in Moses and Jesus. Arabs living before Muhammad did not have any figure so prominent a channel between themselves and the Divine Force. Even though the Divine had a shrine within their midst ever since recorded history -- the huge cubic block of stone, the Ka'bah in Mecca, the Divine had never sent a messenger from, and to, their own people. Arabs who interacted with Jews and Christians in 7th century Arabia had a profound sense of inferiority. Had God left the Arabs out of the Divine plan? However, all that changed one night in the month of Ramadan, 610 in a cave on Mount Hira to a Meccan merchant Muhammad ibn Abdullah.Recite! He was torn from sleep during his meditative retreat on the mountain, as though an angel had enveloped him so tightly the breath was removed from his body. The angel just gave the command Iqra! (meaning Recite). Muhammad protested saying that he was not one of the charismatic preachers or a shaman, a Kahin. But the angel persisted, said Muhammad, and inspired words began to come from his mouth that night and so the contents of the Qur'an continued to flow for many years to come. The Word of God had for the first time been spoken in Arabia, in the Arabic language, and to an Arab. The holy book resulting from these commands of speech would eventually be collected into the Qur'an, meaning the Recitation, the Reading or Recital. But What is the Common Era Date for the First Recitation. Can a portrait of sky be erected to describe cosmically the moment of the first Recitation? To answer this, we have to become familiar with calendars of the time. The present Muslim calendar dating from 622, is based upon an order from the Caliph Umar issued in either 637 or 642 and retroactive to 622, and this Muslim calendar is an exclusive lunar cycle of 12 lunar months per year. A lunar month begins and ends with the first sighting of the new moon. Each month comprises 29 or 30 days, depending upon the moon sighting. A modern Islamic year has 354 days, and there are no leap years. Thus, each year the Islamic calendar moves behind the seasons of a western solar year by about ten days. Because of this, Islamic festivals and annual rituals, such as the fasting from dawn to dusk during the month of Ramadan, will be in different seasons each year. The names of the months predate Islam and have ancient roots in Arabia. The first month is named Muharram, followed by Safar, Rabi I and II, Jumada I and II, Rajab, Shaban, Ramadan, Shuwwal, Al Qa'Dah, Al Hijah. English spellings vary.Caliph Umar. It was during the reign of the Caliph Umar in 637 according to most authors, but 642 according to others, that the beginning date for the Islamic calendar was fixed retroactively to the year when the Prophet made his migration from Mecca to Medina. That was the year 622. The first month of the Muslim calendar, Muharram, began on July 16, 622. That is the Muslim year one! Or the year zero, according to other authors. However, Muhammad experienced his first Recitation, the beginning of the Qu'ran on approximately the 27th of Ramadan twelve years earlier according to many, but not all, biographers. What was that date? Was a strictly lunar calendar in effect then? No. A solilunar calendar prevailed where extra lunar months were inserted into the calendar periodically to keep the calendar consistent with seasons. Converting from the Islamic year to the Gregorian calendar is no simple task, because there is disagreement as to what calendar was in effect before the edict of Caliph Umar. AH in the Muslim calendar refers to Anno Hegirae, meaning the year counting from the prophet Muhammad departing Mecca, but not the arrival date in Medina about 250 miles away. But What Calendar was Used Before AH? For centuries before Muhammad, Arabian peoples observed a strictly lunar calendar. But when pilgrimages to the Ka'bah in Mecca during the twelfth month became more popular, even before Muhammad, pilgrims needed food and drink along the way. At the Ka'bah pilgrims indulged in social and personal rituals associated with the sacred meteorite or stone given to Abraham by Gabriel and now embedded in the walls of the Ka'bah; at the end of the pilgrimage an animal was slaughtered. Food and drink needed to be fresh and available. Since a lunar calendar does not keep step with the seasons, and thus the planting and harvesting times, this sometimes led to logistical problems finding food for the trip. To ensure sufficient supplies the Arabs began to intercalate, i.e, insert an extra lunar month periodically to keep the 12th month in the autumn near harvest time. According to one author, the Arabian peoples had learned of this stratagem from the Hebrews of Yathrith, who learned of it during their captivity in Babylon centuries before. Arabians and other middle eastern peoples adopted it around AD 412 according to authorities on the history of recording time. This Babylonian - Hebrew calendar inserted an extra month in seven years within a nineteen year cycle. There is also another method of intercalation, with an extra month inserted during 11 years within a thirty year cycle. If either calendar was used, then for two centuries before and during Muhammad's Recitation, Arabian peoples in the Hijaz used a solilunar calendar. The Kinana tribe had responsibility for the calendar which they delegated to their calendar officials, the Na'asas, and it is not known for certain how the Nasa'a decided when to intercalate the extra lunar month, and there lies the uncertainty. If the 12th month of the year was set for the pilgrimage, the month called Al Hijah, it was then always in the late summer during harvest, then the 9th month of Ramadan would have occurred in late spring. Two Different Calendars place the Recitation in Spring 610. However, there is little difference between the Babylonian/Hebrew calendar which adds 7 months to 19 years of 228 months (19 years times 12 lunar months equals 228 months), or this alternative calendar which adds 11 months to 30 years of 360 months (30 years times 12 lunar months equals 360 months). The percentage of added months is .0307017 and .0305555 respectively, a trivial difference in the short run of a few centuries! In any case, the calendars used in the Hijaz at the time of the Recitation probably maintained the same named month during the same solar season. Now in 622, when the Islamic lunar calendar began, the month of Ramadan happened in early spring. Assuming that an intercalary calendar was used before 622, which is likely based upon scholarly works by Richards and Steel (see Bibliography), the 27th day of Ramadan in 622 corresponded to the Hebrew 28th day in the month of Nisan which in the western calendar corresponded to the 4th of April 622. Using this same calendar and including the intercalated month in 610, the corresponding date for the 28th of Nisan would be April 26, 610! Forced to construct a horoscope with a time of day, even though clocks as we know them were not available, I chose 10 o'clock in the evening which places 6 Aquarius on the ascendant for Mecca, and 19 Scorpio on the Mid Heaven with Sun, Mars and Venus at the lower Heaven. Of course this time is purely speculative, and the only indication is the literature full of stories of Khadijah describing the event as "in the evening."If the other intercalated calendar of 11 months in 30 years, the corresponding date would also be in spring but since we don't know what months were inserted in what years, it is impossible to determine a specific date with that calendar. In the unlikely event that a strictly lunar calendar was used, the corresponding date would be August 23, 610.See Appendix A for Descriptions of Muslim and Other Calendars.Disagreements Are A Given Disagreement about any claim of accuracy is a foregone conclusion in the Middle East, regardless what the source. And this author anticipates voices from either Muslim or Hebrew camps, plus additional voices, challenging this date of April 26, 610 Common Era. Since there is so much uncertainty about the date of the Recitation, as astrologers we are limited to examining the slow moving planets only from Jupiter on out to Pluto. The April 26th date for the first recitation is "dirty data" but the only data that may come close to the actual event.A major conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn occurred that year, 610. The same conjunction is believed to have occurred in the birth years of many famous leaders such as Jesus and Napoleon.610's Outer Planets. The slow moving planets beyond Mars would be the planets most likely to signal a major event on Earth, changing existing patterns of behavior for centuries to come. In fact there was great anticipation among Jewish, Christian and Pagan religious scholars that a new major leader was at hand around 610.Since the Recitation was the beginning of a series of meetings with the Divine Force, perhaps no single chart can describe the event but a series of charts. In the unlikely event that intercalations did not alter the date in the Common Era, the August 23, 610 date might be important after all. On that date the creative and centered Sun was at 22 Leo, roughly opposite the wise Jupiter and disciplined Saturn. Islam had to aggressively compete with rival tribes and leaders, and militant Mars would be important. Mars on April 26th, 610 was at 23 degrees in domestic and protective Cancer, in an off center, distractive quincunx with the Saturn Jupiter conjunction. The lunar North Node, a very important point used in predicting eclipses and many other cycles was at 4 Aries. Pamela Crane, in her work with Draconic horoscopes that all begin with the lunar Node at zero Aries, calculated that Jesus was born when the lunar Node was also at zero Aries, very close to the Recitation's north lunar node at 4 Aries. And in 610, powerfully intense Pluto was semi square the Jupiter Saturn conjunction, revolutionary and unpredictable Uranus was sesquiquadrate the same conjunction, and idealistic Neptune was 165 degrees from it. Something important was happening as revealed by the slow moving planets even though we don't know the precise moment that faster moving "personal" planets would help to fine tune the data.Disseminating the Message Arabia in the early 7th century was in a complete state of chaos with each of many tribes a law unto itself. Without a sense of unity, the Arabs were unable to form a political force in the world or a unified civilization. The constant tribal warfare of the Eastern Arabian region known as the Hijaz made it beyond the pale of civilizations already strong in parts of north Africa and Asia. By the time of Muhammad's death (8 June 632), twenty two eventful years following the first Recitation, nearly all the tribes had rejected their paganism and united into a new Muslim community. Muhammad had transformed the conditions of the people, "he had rescued them from fruitless violence and disintegration and given them a new identity," Armstrong writes, "they were now ready to found their own unique culture and Muhammad's teachings had unlocked such power that within a hundred years," the Muslim empire stretched from Gibraltar to southwestern Asia.Western Terrorism: The Crusades In the midst of chaos and confusion, order and peace persist. Astrology is the language of that order and peace in personal tragedies and triumphs, in global disasters and war. We are now in the midst of a global war with terrorism, whose roots trace to events long ago and far away. The symbolic language of planets, signs, houses and aspects connects the events of the infamous September 11, 2001 attacks and its tragic successor on November 12, 2001 in Queens, New York with the only successful European Crusader victory in Jerusalem nine centuries before.Astrology provides the language to not only bridge time and space, but to bridge the communications gap between aggressive armies and peoples whatever their religious orientation or spiritual mission. Long before September 11, 2001, there was the terrorism against Muslims and Jews in Europe in the late 11th century.Excluding the fast moving Mars, what relationship does this chart for a beginning of Islam have with the terrorist attacks. The pivotal point in the Recitation chart is the Jupiter Saturn conjunction, and transiting Uranus, a symbol of change and individuality, joined that point at the World Trade Center attack. Uranus is surprise, the planet of revolution and change. The World Trade Center attack has been the spark igniting new interest in Islam, and books and lectures relating to Islam are more popular than ever. Even though the attack was horrendous murder and carnage of innocent people, many of the survivors and observers of the event are prompted to ask: What faith was so strong to prompt hijackers to kill themselves and create the largest act of terrorism against innocent people in history? If their faith in Islam drove them, then what is that faith about? And if not, then the terrorists would be seen as self-selected fanatics who rationalized their anger and murderous ways, and used Islam as an excuse for the ventilation of sociopathic rage.Astrology and the Crusades: A Language of Understanding. The language of planets and signs and aspects can convey more efficient meaning to a situation than the tomes of repetitive or contradictory analyses by scores of historians and political analysts. The poetry of our language is presented through horoscopes, as accurate as possible, to both current events and those that happened about a millennia ago. I purposely did not refer to astrological houses for the charts of ancient events because houses are dependent upon birth time, and for the conquest of Jerusalem on 15 July 1099, a date is available but not an accurate time. I simply estimated that by five in the afternoon, the conquering army of Europeans would have said they won the day.Roots From a Millennium Ago. The present crisis that so changed the United States began September 11, 2001 at about a quarter to nine in the morning at the World Trade Center in Manhattan (8:46 and 9:03 am EDT are the times most quoted for the north and south tower attacks) and less than an hour later (9:35 am) at the Pentagon in northern Virginia, and on a fourth plane that crashed into the western Pennsylvania hills. Two months later, another airplane bound for the Dominican Republic mysteriously lost both engines and a tail assembly, crashing into homes near Rockaway Park, Queens, New York less than three minutes after takeoff from Kennedy International Airport, New York, killing 260 on board and five on the ground. Mechanical terrorism is one suspected cause. The roots of those crashes had their origins, historically and astrologically, almost a millennium ago, with the European Crusades of the eleventh to thirteenth centuries. European armies led by kings and princes were inspired by then church leaders, very different than present Western clergy, who promised eternal paradise as payment for martyrdom against Muslims. This is not unlike stories of Muslim clerics promising contemporary martyred terrorists of varying forms of paradise as reward for brave murderous acts. Pope John Paul II recently took the unprecedented step of apologizing for the specific violence against Muslims in the Crusades in the name of Christianity. In both the aggressions ascribed to Christians and Muslims, the tenets of religion have been rationalized to support the glory of dying in the name of battlefield gains involving death to the warriors and to thousands of otherwise uninvolved men, women and children. Historical accounts of July 15, 1099 describe 40,000 deaths of innocent, non combatant Muslims and Jews in Jerusalem. Some of the sources for this history is the Oxford History of Christianity, edited by John McManners (Oxford University Press, 1993), and James Reston, Jr's Warriors of God (Doubleday, 2001).The crusader movement stretched over two centuries and began formally in the name of religion by Pope Urban II in 1095 as a means to focus the warring energies of European barons from bloody local disputes into a "noble" reclamation of the holy land from the "infidel." Once begun, the complex passions unleashed were uncontrollable. It began with the massacre of Jews in western Europe and proceeded to the slaughter of Muslims and additional Jewish victims in the Middle East. The Crusades drained European wealth, and ended with huge death tolls on both sides. The Only "Successful" Crusade. Only the First Crusade achieved its objective, that being the capture of Jerusalem on July 15, 1099 making the streets of the old city run ankle deep with Muslim and Jewish blood. That success was attributed to the disunity of the Arab world, not unlike the time during the formation last century of the State of Israel when Arab nations surrounding the new State were disorganized in their attacks. The other crusades in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries were all failures because the Arab world was united, and from the Europeans having poor leadership, and being victims of disease and desertion. In constructing a horoscope for that bloody day, I've used 5 PM on July 15, 1099, in Jerusalem. This is another speculative date, but fairly reasonable given the historical documents available. Here again, it is best to use only the slow moving planets since they would not change much if the date is incorrect. All slow moving planets are connected by low degrees, less than 15. This chart has Saturn at 13 Libra opposite Pluto at 12 Aries, both perpendicular to Mars at 9 Cancer. Uranus at 11 Taurus forms a square to Neptune at 6 Leo in sextile to Jupiter at 8 Gemini. Minutes of a degree are rounded to the nearest whole degree. The military threat posed by Islam during those centuries prior to the crusades prompted the church to extend Augustine's doctrine of Just War. Doesn't that sound familiar? While it remained the responsibility of secular leaders to defend Christendom, the church encouraged the warrior class to violence against Muslims by promising eternal life. The so-called "Peace of God" movement was just one of several means by which the church organized the warrior class to secure its own political ends. The formation of the Christian knights, the Militia Christi, of the 11th century had a crucial impact upon Christianity's relationship with Islam. Right at the beginning of the crusading movement, the papacy lost control of the knights, and the conduct of the crusades passed from cautious and well informed papal clerics into the hands of violent and impressionable warriors from Northern Europe. Paradise to Martyrs on Both Sides. In addition to promises of a martyr's crown to those who fell in battle, the papacy offered all participants the remission of any penance imposed by the church. At the Council of Clermont in November 1095, Pope Urban II urged his audience to undertake a "just war" in defense of the Christian Churches of the East. The object of the expedition was Jerusalem. The early warriors considered themselves pilgrims carrying weapons and in their preparation for battle received special privileges. Whatever Urban said at Clermont, the majority of crusaders believed "they had a contract with God and had assured themselves a place in Paradise." Those who went on crusades would be able, according to Urban II, to keep as their own the lands they conquered. The prospect of greater wealth and social independence was powerful incentive in land hungry Europe. The lure of booty, adventures with comrades, a spiritual purpose, and the mysterious Orient gave a heady mixture of motives drawing the knights of Christian Europe into battle. The various accounts of the First Crusade, began in 1096, describe a climax following the siege of Jerusalem beginning June 7 and culminating with the Christian victory on July 15, 1099. The time of triumph is vague at best, but since charts must have a time on them, I've chosen five in the afternoon. Thousands of soldiers on both sides possessed faithful ardor for their causes. Soldiers on both Muslim and Christian sides fasted, confessed, took communion for their different representations of the Divine Force, gave alms to the poor, heard sermons from muezzin and priests, and prepared to die for their faith. While Muslims were gripped with desire to protect holy sites and the inhabitants of the city, Christian soldiers were gripped by hatred, and they quivered with blood lust, having practiced earlier upon the torture and murder of Jews especially in what is present day England, France and Germany. In Jerusalem the crusaders had their moment of revenge against the Muslims for occupying "their" holy city. But the Muslims had occupied the city and respected the Christian holy places, and they saw no reason to give it up because the symbols of their faith, including the Dome of the Rock, were in Jerusalem too. Jerusalem might be said to have too much history and not enough geography.Remember that the old city of Jerusalem in 1099 was in roughly a square shape with the distance from one side to the other never more than 900 yards, or three football fields wide. In the northeast quadrant was the Jewish Quarter, and beneath that the Dome of the Rock, and slightly south the Temple of Solomon and the Al Aqsa Mosque. To the west was the Holy Sepulcher, near to the Mosque of Omar, and south of that the Citadel, Davids Gate and the Armenian Quarter. The day of decision had arrived, July 15.War is Hell and Glory. Raymond of St. Giles leading one Christian army had filled the moat, placed tall wooden ladders against the walls and was battering the ramparts constantly even though the ground dropped off precipitously on one side into the Valley of Jehosophat. Engineers built siege towers and a battering ram. A crusader officer Tancred moved his forces to join those of Godfrey of Bouillon, known as the "slave of Christ" and a paragon of medieval knighthood, and later the first Christian King of Jerusalem. It was Friday, the Dies Veneris, on which to the medieval believer Christian Christ had redeemed the whole world on the Cross. But Friday was the Muslim sabbath and the preparation for the Jewish holy day of the week as well. The Christian army under Tancred breached the wall, soldiers pouring through the gap into the Jewish Quarter known as Juiverie while Godfrey's soldiers stormed through the gate on the east. Raymond of St Giles stormed the southern wall and all the armies converged on the Temple Mount where thousands of Muslims took refuge and prepared for the end.The orgy of slaughter began. For two whole days the Christian soldiers massacred every living creature that was not their own. Ten thousand alone were killed at the Temple Mount. According to Fulcher of Chartres, some had their bodies ripped open because it was rumored Muslims were swallowing gold coins. For the entire city, the estimated dead was forty thousand men, women, and children. The Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the holiest in Christendom, the site of Calvary, was a pool of blood. The Jews huddled in their synagogue, and the Christian soldiers burned down the building and, blocking the exits, forced the Jews to meet their fiery death, while the soldiers of Christ danced around the pyre singing Te Deum. After the killing, looting followed. The Mosque of Umar, dedicated to the successor of the Prophet was sacked, and the tomb of Abraham destroyed. The Crusaders went about their work joyfully, confident in their righteousness, proud of doing God's work as they saw it.When the looting was over, Godfrey and the others removed their armor, washed the blood and gore from their cross-embossed coats and piously vested themselves with robes of the penitent, offering prayers, sobbing with joy. They were convinced they had done glorious work in the highest tradition of chivalry as the knights of Christ. The Patriarch delivered the benediction. The historian of the First Crusade, Guibert of Nogent, had no apology for the grotesque treatment of Muslim women. "The Franks," as the Crusaders were called, "did no other harm to the women whom they found in the enemy camp, save that they ran their lances through their bellies."Vengeance Not Forgotten. What to one religion is glory and redemption, is disgrace and shame to another. This was a memory no Muslim could forget.. As historian James Reston Jr. recounts, "If the city itself still stank six months later from the carnage, the memory still stands ninety years -- and nine hundred years later."Astrology for the Recitation and the Crusades. The crusaders capturing Jerusalem was a Pluto return for Muhammad's Recitation. At 9 Aries in 610, Pluto was at 11 Aries in 1099! Indeed, the return of power and transformation. The Mars position in the hypothetical Recitation chart for 26 April 610 may be close since at the Crusaders victory, Uranus was at 11 Taurus, the same degree as the Recitation's viral Mars/Sun conjunction square idealistic Neptune. Changes and surprise weapons for the crusaders are so symbolized against the dreams of Muhammad. That people professing belief in Christianity would behave so unchristian, and feel so threatened by an Islam that had respect for Christians and Jews and their places of worship did present a Uranian surprise! The Crusaders winning Jerusalem was not only a Pluto return for the date of Recitation, but a Neptune return as well, both at seven and five degrees Leo! Where was Saturn in 1099? At least in July, Saturn was at 13 Libra opposite the Recitation's Mercury at 12 Aries. The Mercurial message of the Recitation was challenged by a blockage to reason and fairness. The challenge to the Crusaders' justice was too difficult for them. Saturn opposed Pluto at the Crusader victory, just as they opposed each other at 9-11-2001!The Next "Invasion" of Europeans: The State of Israel. The establishment of Israel on 14 May 1948, at 4:37 pm, Tel Aviv represented a Biblical dream come true for Jews and Christians. For many Muslims, who had occupied Palestine for centuries and established farms and homes there, the presence of so many European immigrants was overwhelming. While control of Palestine by the Ottoman Empire, and later the British, had held in check assertive acts of Zionism, the establishment of the State of Israel raised divisiveness between Jews and Muslims to a new level. One of the major astrological components of this power struggle is the chart for Israel and the militaristic Mars, powerful Pluto and disciplined Saturn conjunct in Leo square the life purpose lunar node and proud Sun in Taurus. Pluto was then semisquare Venus of values; might makes right.Astrologically, the Leo planets in the State of Israel's chart are in square to the Sun, Mars and Venus in the chart of the recitation. The Israeli Sun conjunct the Qur'an's Venus within one degree implies Israeli respect for Islamic values and earthy Taurean places of worship. Israel's Pluto in stress to the Qur'an's Sun, Venus and Mars makes soft, easy going maintenance of values difficult to sustain in a fair setting. With few exceptions, the State of Israel has protected Muslim places of worship, both from Jewish and Muslim extremists. The Muslim warrior Saladin was to conquer Jerusalem without carnage some ninety years later in 1187, and over eight hundred years later, we can assume the story of Jerusalem in 1099 is buried deep in the minds of the World Trade Center/Pentagon terrorist bombers and plotters. Will the stench from murdered innocents at the World Trade Center be an inspiration for an ever spiraling cycle of revenge? That is our choice and theirs.Present Parallels. Shortly after the attack, President Bush's remarks that this was a crusade was a poor choice of words retracted soon after. The word crusades bring to the Muslim mind memories of the 1099 massacre. Muslim forces, in disarray in 1099, were solidified over the following decades. And another crusade in 1187 pitted Richard I, Plantagenat King of England and Duke of Aquitaine, and Philip II Augustus, Capetian King of France, against Saladin, Sultan of Egypt, Arabia, Syria and Mesopotamia. In the Muslim victory of 1187, Saladin decided the Church of the Holy Sepulcher was not to be touched; good Muslims, he announced, venerate the holy sites of all religions. The Taliban of Afghanistan in 2001, by destroying the world largest shrine to Buddha, demonstrated their abuse of those fundamental tenets of Islam.Saladin is recorded as capturing Jerusalem from the Christian Crusaders on 2 October 1187, when Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Jupiter were all in Libra, a day before the new Moon, the same Moon phase as the Recitation. These planets were opposite the Moon, Pluto, Mercury stellium of the Recitation in Aries. Libran fairness challenging Arian initiative. Saladin's victory has Mars and Pluto in homeland security sign Cancer, right on the Qur'an's Uranus but square the Qur'an's lunar node in the fourth nodal house of the home. Saladin was using force to secure the homes of believers in the Book -- the Islamic and the Judeo-Christian book.Muhammad Atta, the leader of the 9-11-2001 hijackers and terrorists, is reported to have been born 1 September 1968, at noon in Kafr ash-Shaykh, Egypt. This data is described as dirty data since it cannot be verified, and even though it may have come from some official document like the application for a passport, there is no way of confirming the accuracy. But maybe it is correct, or close. Astrologically, Atta's militant Mars is opposite to the Qur'an's morals of Jupiter and the discipline and patience of it's Saturn. Atta's Mars at 17 Leo, and the Jupiter Saturn of the Qur'an at 28 and 26 Aquarius. Atta's idealistic and perhaps confused Neptune at 23 Scorpio is opposite the values of the Qur'an expressed through Venus at 22 Taurus and its principles of the purpose of war expressed through Mar in April 610 being at 11 Taurus. The Recitation and the World Trade Center Attack. The main predictor of a major violent attack basic to world systems on 9-11-2001 was Saturn in commercial Gemini opposite manipulative and complex Pluto in the sign of media, judgment, religion, and beliefs -- Sagittarius. Martial Mars that day opposite the karmic lunar north node and the Moon further added to the ominous quality of that day. What does that day have to relate to the start of Islam? The Crusades also had a Saturn opposite Pluto! Both the Recitations' Neptune in Leo and the Crusaders' Neptune in Leo were within two degrees of each other, and the 9-11 Neptune was opposite them, all three Neptunes at 7, 5, and 6 degrees respectively. Expectations, dreams, ideals, potentials were all triggered by bright stars in the sky at those degrees. The Neptune of the Recitation was anchored to a square to the Sun, Mars and Venus,. The idealism was driven by solar strength, by assertive Mars and fair Venus. The Neptune of the Crusades and 9-11-2001 had Neptune not anchored to personal planets, not driven by anything nobler than itself.. The 9-11 discipline of Saturn was in a gentle sextile with the ideas of Qur'an and has been credited for making interest in Islam greater, but opportunistic and judgmental Jupiter on 9-11 was in a stressful square with the same Recitation mental Mercury. As though 9-11 was both a call to knowledge but an expectation of something more righteous than murdering almost three thousand innocent people. The independent Uranus of 9-11 was in a stressful square with the Qur'an's natal Venus. A surprise stress to the values of Islam, and a strange need to express the values of Islam in a new light. The mental Mercury of 9-11 was in a challenging opposition of the mental Mercury if the Qur'an!Where Are President Bush and Saddam Hussein In This Story. The most awesome experience in astrology is seeing how present events describe so perfectly events in modern times and ancient times. Astrologers bridge time so easily. President George W Bush was born 6 July 1946 at 7:26 AM in New Haven CT. Birthdates for Saddam Hussein vary, but the chart most often used for him places his birth 28 April 1937 at 8:55 AM in Tikrit, Iraq, the same birthplace as Saladin.Saddam Hussein has often portrayed himself as the successor to Saladin, and when we compare the chart for Hussein with Saladin's victory in capturing Jerusalem, there are few distinct parallels. It is rare for an astrologer not to be able to cite some meaning from a chart comparison, but there are no close aspects between Hussein's chart and the Saladin Victory. The latter stands alone as a model of military integrity. However, when we compare the two present combatants, Bush and Hussein, major tight aspects emerge. Hussein's independent Sun/Uranus conjunction forms a stressful square with Bush's perceptive and intensely mental Mercury / Pluto conjunction. Hussein pride in independence and unpredictability teases Bush's suspicions and curiosity. Hussein's powerful, intense and manipulative Pluto is exactly together with Bush's leadership and disciplined Saturn. Hussein tries to manipulate Bush's leadership role for both Americans, Arabs and the UN. Hussein's judgmental and righteous Jupiter is challenged by his own complex Pluto, opposite Bush's Saturn. Let me challenge your leadership, says Hussein, with political adventures like unlimited inspections for political advantage only to manipulate them later, as Hussein has done so often before. Are Bush and Hussein Part of the Qur'an Recitation? Here's where goose bumps come in. President Bush's own emotional ties to religion and philosophy come into play. His Jupiter, Moon, Neptune stellium in Libra conveys not only a tolerance for a dialogue with his own symbol of judgmental authority (Jupiter/Neptune) but also a dialogue (Libra) with other faiths. If the Qur'an began in the spring of 610, the purposeful and karmic lunar north node would have been conjunct transformative Pluto at four and nine degrees of Aries, exactly opposite the 5 and 18 degree positions of Bush's Neptune and Jupiter in Libra. And if the Recitation began on the 26th of April, fast moving Mercury would have been at 12 Aries exactly opposite Bush's Moon and Jupiter at 16 and 18 Libra. It appears as though Bush may be very judgmental of Qur'an but at least open to it. The Taurus stellium of Sun, Mars and Venus at the Recitation is exactly in square to Bush's Ascendant and his own stellium of Mercury, Pluto and Venus at 7, 9, 10, and 21, all in dramatic and theatrical Leo. The earthly practical doctrine of Muhammad stresses the theatrics of the President. Can peace be achieved if Bush would be humbled to participate in a Muslim prayer service. Would Bush's conservative Protestant supporters allow Bush to ever respectfully bow to Mecca in a mosque? But just that act might do so much to pacify a very angry Middle East if the weapons unleashed in a war are uncontrolled.
